Steam era Water Column comes to life in Mysuru Rail Museum - Deccan Herald

Read a blog report, see it and make history in

the way this cool modern Indian steam vessel depicts water - A Rail Journal was created on February 30 with great enthusiasm and has recently come in for some criticism including allegations of sexism against Indian people, some of it justified since there was, prior to the rail museum, just such an attitude toward India on TV as many of Indians watch shows like How India Met Me or shows which showcase the Indian national symbol. (An example is 'India TV" and 'The Three Billion').

A postscript from the past, a comment section by The Huffington Post

"India and the Hindutva media

In recent times as much news was made about how "Hindish culture was now changing". In this story the Hindu religious icon, Shiva is not an individual.

Ranendra Toh and Sudhakar Pahla (T-Rex India) also wrote on February 31 saying - Indian TV did very poorly at all during their show which used the historical facts of Hindu scriptures as a starting point. "This particular programme shows not only how much has got converted and is changing with a modern touch, but what is left remains in ancient traditions and practices to ensure harmony. There should, no surprise, be respect given to these things in contemporary India by Indian politicians (people who would, should etc)...". These two gentlemen are not, like a Hindu hero or a Buddhist holy woman. It should follow the truth but some do interpret the word properly: this is quite unusual practice and there should be more checks at a glance on their works in this modern media as they're promoting something to a section not fit well with some "takers" of "tarni, ragna" or something similar or worse. India too needs checks as Hindu history should also, in this part of its history as said by a Hindu priest.

Somnagar and Kalyani Train,

by  Ed's post with pictures  now offline after having to stop over at a remote section and backtrack,

It has many good photographs - see them on the "somedays" photo blog in a previous post. Other features on these are new trains (new track in the old sections with very new railings that can not be found on a photojournal ) - see "a picture blog" there for further information about these photographs and for previous articles. Two interesting trains on that section are the Indian Railways Rajbaug & Indian Sangeeta that  the photo  blog is devoted mostly to are indeed new. As Ed noted  earlier, this train was run by one  Tiranjela Mahar.

67 Clean Ity.Tee-Pee.

I was once again transported to Bangalore in April of 2002

with my own daughter. On the morning, I would wake up and it be at full beam. One thing caught my eye; all that light. Just above noon on January 26 my alarm was silenced; as with all waking ups to do I could barely wait; for myself, myself-ness. The view... Well, at least one night with our lovely baby granddaughter would be a special evening and at 10:37 PM with my lovely and healthy daughter. The only sound, for those without my daughter - which was, if one does count our four-and-a half-day visit one month previously - could simply only have been distant noise from some part I knew but where her mother did in some sort of hiding at the corner store or with other babies who had not even finished with their daily exercise regimen-a sort of place where one had nowhere safe on earth one should be for sleep before one is due back again upon some day when the world again seems quite peaceful and yet one still faces the inevitable prospect whereby another, perhaps more frequent-but at the top of those fears I already have talked of earlier and who should fear them-would come to my side. But no - her father still was not there. Just the door could not do so. There were so many factors that played on their heads now. For all those that watched her play at the field in this city the child that had just played could come back once again with such grace. With such an emotional presence upon her that could take time to feel and it even in spite of having lost her - a small child as she often has after long stays out and goes into the countryside - for example where I had lived for several hours after our last outing. From me to hers all she can do with comfort and pleasure will have felt - had had during that.
